Alex Housten has nearly 20 years of experience in the building technologies industry across various operations, commercial and P&L leadership roles. He is known as a customer advocate and a champion for purposeful new product development that solves customer and marketplace problems.

Housten currently serves as chief operating officer of dormakaba Group and a member of the Group Executive Committee. Appointed to this position effective July 2023, he leads dormakaba’s operations around the world. Housten joined the dormakaba Executive Committee in April 2020 as the head of the dormakaba Access Solutions Americas business segment. In this role, he led the Americas organization through three years of comprehensive business transformation to improve customer satisfaction, generate growth and deliver performance. Key transformation levers included business portfolio adjustment, optimizing sales coverage and channel development, improving product vitality, brand rationalization, customer service enhancement, manufacturing network consolidation and business systems harmonization.

From 2005 to 2020, Housten served in various progressive operations, general management and executive leadership roles at Carrier Corporation (previously part of the now former United Technologies Corporation), most recently as vice president and general manager of Carrier’s Fire & Security Products Americas business unit, including responsibility for the Kidde residential fire safety, Edwards commercial fire detection & alarm, LenelS2 access control, Interlogix intrusion, Supra specialty access and Onity hospitality businesses.

Housten holds a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Purdue University.
