Richard Soloway is the Chairman and CEO of NAPCO Security Technologies, Inc. A native Metro-New Yorker and founder of the Company in 1969, he is also a quoted security expert in the New York Times, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Forbes, etc. He holds numerous patents, and has been awarded Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year”; “Champion for Safety Through Education”, by the Guardian Angels; and, the “Ellis Island Medal of Honor”, celebrating the diversity of backgrounds that strengthen America. Dick, as he is known in the industry, personifies the entrepreneurial spirit and has long lived and breathed electronic security at every turn, advocating the importance of life safety technologies. A problem-solver by nature, Dick credits his passion for the business, as having always been fascinated by the dynamic nature of electronic technology, as seen in his pre-NAPCO-roots, creating electronic musical equipment for ‘60’s bands like Clapton, Hendrix, Morrison & the Monkees. Having identified a growing need for commercial and residential security, he founded NAPCO Security Systems, Inc.,subsequently listed as a NASDAQ public company in 1972. Today, NAPCO Security Technologies, located on Long Island, New York, has a stock market capitalization of $1Billion (NASDAQ:NSSC), employing more than 1200 employees worldwide. In addition to a love of security, Dick’s long-time love and beautiful wife, Donna, are avid travelers, philanthropists, and collectors of modern art.
